Welcoming Shauna Getz, Regional Minister: Pastoral Relations & Community of Faith Support

Dear Friends,

Please join in welcoming to the regional minister team, Shauna Getz (she/her/hers)! Executive Minister, Treena Duncan first shared about Shauna joining the team in her Nov 22, 2023 email:

Shauna brings a wealth of experience from her dual expertise in Social Work and Human Resources. Her 25 years as a Social Worker have equipped her with exceptional interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and coaching skills. Additionally, her Human Resources experience and training have provided her with a holistic understanding of work dynamics and people management, making her a perfect candidate for this work. Throughout her career, Shauna has been dedicated to supporting diverse populations, including newcomers to Canada, economically challenged individuals, indigenous people, and persons with disabilities. She also brings forth skills in ethical service provision, team leadership, problem-solving, information management, and excellent communication.

Shauna has actively contributed to various committees within the United Church, serving on the M&P committee at Symons Valley and as a member of the Chinook Winds Regional Executive.

Shauna is relocating from Calgary, Alberta, to become part of our community here in Vancouver.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Shauna as she embarks on this new chapter with us. Her dedication to creating positive environments and her passion for supporting others make her a valuable addition to our team.

When asked to share a bit about herself, Shauna says,

I grew up in small-town Alberta working for my mom and dad in their small business. When I was younger, I played many sports.  Music has always been a passion and that continues today. I sing mostly but have been known to play different percussion instruments and in my early years the piano. When I moved away to go to college, I achieved a diploma in Social Work and worked in non-profits for 26 years.  Working with many different people taught me what it is to be humble and human.  This work led me to my most recent educational experience a Bachelors in Human Resources and Labour Relations with a passion in supporting healthy working relationships.  I look forward to meeting many new people and getting to know the area.  Having never lived outside of Alberta we look forward to everything the Lower mainland and BC offers.

Welcome, Shauna!

Blessings upon you in your move to the lower mainland from Alberta, and your work with Pacific Mountain Regional Council,

PMR Office
