The Nominations Committee is Seeking Expressions of Interest for the Following Vacancies

Friends across the Regional Council,

It’s truly the season of transitions and many council and working group positions are open. The Nominations Committee would LOVE for people across our regional council to consider a-new, a call to serving our church in these engaging and important ways.

Pacific Mountain Region is recruiting members for its Lay Leadership Support Team.   We are seeking individuals who are invested in the support of lay leaders and who recognize the vital role of gifted and committed lay ministry plays in communities of faith.  The Lay Leadership Support Team is tasked with:

  • supporting lay leaders as they fulfill their leadership roles with communities of faith
  • creating networks of support for lay leaders in similar roles across the region
  • facilitating cluster and gatherings of lay leaders taking place online and in person, taking place Region wide and in specific geographical areas

The Lay Leadership Support Team is seeking lay members only at this time.

The Approvals Working Group has responsibility for receiving applications for Communities of Faith requiring Regional Approval, reviewing the applications using policy and guidelines to make recommendations to the Executive Minister. These include:

  • Community of Faith Life Events including amalgamation, disbanding, realignments, new Communities of Faith, governance model changes, name changes,
  • Transactions involving Real and Personal property: Land, Buildings, Other Land Rights, and “Other Major Assets” including, sales, purchases, mortgages and loans, any other borrowing secured by congregational property; leases and licenses; major renovations; demolition; and construction of a new building; use of major assets, and permissions related to real and personal property related to the UCC.

Useful skills for the role:

  • Knowledge of UCCan and its procedures and matters relating to real and personal property;
  • Ability to make connections between property transactions and mission and ministry of the Church;
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn of legal procedures and requirements of the UCCan and appropriate provincial and federal legislation related to property;
  • Willingness to learn about varied other areas of the Approval Working Group responsibilities.

The Region’s Finance Council is seeking three (3) new members to join them! Are you a money person? The Finance Advisory Council makes recommendations to the Executive Minister about the future financial plan for the Pacific Mountain Regional Council.

The two housing societies of the Pacific Mountain Region – Three Point Housing and Community Renewal Society – are seeking members to help the societies reach their goals. The Three Point Housing Society is an Incorporated Society (BC) and non-profit organization whose purpose is to acquire, develop and operate non-profit residential accommodations, providing affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households. The Community Renewal Society exists to advance religion by providing support to congregations and other ministries of The Untied Church of Canada particularly by encouraging congregational renewal, establishing, developing, maintaining, repairing and improving places of worship, supporting the creation of alternative models of ministry and new forms of communities of faith, and relieving poverty through residential accommodation.
