Live-in Caretaker Couple or Independent Contractor (Year-round duties with FREE housing)
Rock Lake United Church Camp & Rock Lake Campground @ Elko, BC
Permanent Part-Time (Seasonal) Contract Position
Primary Duties:
- Provide security, maintenance and customer liaison for the Rock Lake United Church Camp and Rock Lake Campground.
- Report to designated members of the Rock Lake United Church Camp Society.
- Maintain yearly occupancy at the residence provided at Rock Lake United Church Camp.
- Comply with site Rules & Regulations, Caretakers Contract & Caretakers Duties
Preferred candidate will have Christian beliefs and the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 graduate or equivalent
- Previous caretaking experiences an asset but not necessary
- Some basic maintenance skills (carpentry, electrical, plumbing). Trades or contracting skills are an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal & organizational skills
- Ability to complete required paperwork
- Class 5 Driver’s license
- Basic computer & cell phone skills
- Lawn mower, tractor, chain saw experience
- Ability to work with Board members, campers, renters, youth and hired contractors.
- Good communication skills
- Appreciation of nature and the outdoors
Contract Criteria:
- Yearly accommodation at Rock Lake United Church Camp with compensation.
- Negotiable contract with 5-year commitment with a first year probational contract.
- Candidate encouraged to find additional winter employment in the area and During times of employment during the site open months (May-Oct.) the Caretakers’ representative must be on site when the caretaker cannot be on site.
- Approved candidates must agree to having a Criminal Record Check for employment and yearly United church camps.
Salary (negotiable) 21, 000-$27,000 with Free Housing ($55,000 + compensation package).
Shortlisted candidates will receive a site interview and a Board interview before hiring.
