Dear Friends,
PIE Day is nearly upon us, and we are very excited about all of the PIE celebrations that are happening around the region this year. We would love to hear from you about your PIE events, see your pictures, and connect through this important and uplifting day!
PIE Day is our National Affirming Day, where we Publicly, Intentionally, and Explicitly live out our call to Affirming Ministry and inclusion of 2SLGBTTQIA+ people in our communities, families, traditions and in our collective church life. PIE Day is officially on March 14th each year, but your PIE events can be held any time during the month of March.
Join in on the movement, this can be part of your Affirming process, or it can be something to draw attention to this important movement within the church. The events can be large or small, the important thing is to consider how your community of faith can authentically live into Affirming Ministry and to then bring this affirming, welcoming and inclusive way of being out into the world.
Please visit the PIE/National Affirming Day website at pieday.ca, to find “how to” information and support, videos and content you can share, as well as a variety of liturgies developed to specifically reflect this year’s focus of PIE in the Public Square.
Please also check out the event listings page here to submit your event and to see all of the PIE events happening around the country.
Affirming Ministry at the Pacific Mountain Region is co-sponsoring 5 different screenings of the documentary 1946. This film that chronicles how the misuse of a single word changed the course of modern history and asks the question “What if the word homosexual was never meant to be in the Bible?” You can find more information about the film here, and if you are interested in seeing it, the dates and locations of the screenings are below.
Blessings on your events, blessings on your communities, and blessings on our collective Affirming path.
