Eunice Williams

Eunice Williams is one woman who actually remembers Church Union in 1925. A longtime member of West Point Grey United Church (Vancouver), she has worked as a lay woman in virtually all aspects of the United Church: the Metropolitan Council of Churches in the Lower Mainland; First United in the Downtown Eastside; the Woman’s Missionary Society and UCW; and the national Division of Ministry Personnel and Education, to name just a few.

Along with Rev. Jack Shaver, she ran the Lay School of Theology at Union College, later helping plan lay education at VST. And at the height of the “Cold War” she held secret meetings with the Communist Party to study communism and the church!
