Thanks to Chinook Winds RC for sharing this story in their August 12 Newsletter!
You’re looking at a picture of Community Connectors and Campus Ministers from Alberta and British Columbia!
These 15 young people worked diligently in the heat for a week in Lethbridge to vision, dream, and plan ministry rooted in the Way of Jesus to their peers on 7 post-secondary campuses. From communication workshops, practicing the art of storytelling, learning the A.S.P.I.R.E model, to sitting in scripture and basking in the goodness of God—they’re all ready for a Fall Semester full of formation, spirituality, community, social justice work, and affirming ministry.
The Community Connectors were hosted by McKillop United, Lethbridge for their sessions. Training was coordinated by First Third Ministry. Chinook Winds’ Chris Mah Poy has been working with each of the campus ministry teams to develop their justice initiatives for the coming term.
Community Connectors are working at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology as well as Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia and the University of Victoria. (A.S.P.I.R.E stands for Assessment, Systematic, Planning, Implementation, Recheck and Evaluation).
