RE: MANDATORY: Canada Dental Care Plan for Tax Year 2024
ADP sent a notice to pastoral charge treasurers about the requirement for the ‘Canada Dental Care Plan Code’ on T4 and T4A tax forms. We are sharing that same information in this post and by email to communities of faith to help all pastoral charge treasure’s receive this important information. Please forward this information on, as needed.

The step by step instructions for navigating ‘Team Pay’ in order to add the dental benefit code is below.
Note:
- ADP will not automatically add the required code for ‘Canada Dental Care Plan Code’.
- Pastoral charge administrators need to add the ‘Canada Dental Care Plan Code’ themselves; it is set up on ‘Team Pay’ under the name “EDBO”.
How to Add the Dental Benefit Code to your Team Pay
- Sign into ‘Team Pay’ by ADP.
- Go To: Employees > Employee Directory >> Choose an Employee
- Click on the tab ‘Additional Employee Data’.
- Click the ‘next page arrow’ at the top of the panel ‘Show Assigned Codes’ to see the code option “Name: Tax Form Dental Benefit Code”, “Code: EDBO”:
- Under ‘Value’, click the drop-down menu to select either code “1” or code “3”:

- Code “1 – No dental coverage” for the employees that are not on UCCan benefits.
- Code “3 – Payee, spouse and dependent children” for the employees that are on UCCan benefits.
Tax Form Boxes
The EDBO (Canada Dental Care Plan) will be reported to the following Tax Form Boxes:
- Form: T4 Box: 45 Description: Employer-offered dental benefits
- Form: T4A Box: 015 Description: Payer-offered dental benefits
Note: Any tax form with T4 Box 45 or T4A Box 015 unpopulated will cause the entire company not to produce/print tax forms. As a result, they will not be included as part of ADP Canada’s Electronic XML Filing.

What you need to know
The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) requirement will be mandatory for the 2024 Tax Form. Blank values will not be permitted. The legislation requires all employers to report a Dental Benefit Care Plan Code (1-5) for any employee receiving a T4 or T4A* in 2024.
All company Tax Forms will not produce or be filed if an employee requiring a T4/T4A* has a missing Dental code.
The Report of Tax Form Balances will produce with the Mid-Year Balancing campaign at the end of June. This report will list employees who have a CDCP Code as missing. Visit The Bridge sponsored by ADP® for more information: ADP Workforce Now® 4cc | TeamPay by ADP®
*T4A box 015 is only required if there are values in T4A Box 016
How is ADP continuing to support you?
ADP has enhanced the report listed below to proactively list the employees with a missing Dental Benefit Care Plan Code.
- The Report of Tax Form Balances – employees with ‘blank’ will appear on the “Employees Missing Mandatory Tax Form Information” section of the report with an ‘X’ in the missing Dental Benefit column.
- Test Tax Forms – ‘blank’ will appear in Box 45 for employees missing a dental benefit code. ADP Workforce Now 4cc | TeamPay
- ADP Workforce Now only– you can run reports the Employee Options report to identify employees with missing a Dental Benefit Code by accessing Reports & Analytics à All Standard Reports à Sample à Employee Options.
