Making Room for Women

An Oral History Project of The Archives

A key period of women’s work, struggle, and leadership in the United Church, which coincided with the popularization of feminism in the wider culture, is now part of history.

Making Room for Women has been a coordinated effort across The United Church of Canada to identify and preserve the personal papers and stories of women who were part of that period of profound change.

An important part of this work has been an oral history program. Through interviews, the Archives has sought to honour the perspectives and experiences of women as expressed in their own voices, in their own words.
