Sanctuary Community Coordinator Contract

Terms: Budget up to $950/month | 45-week term

What is Sanctuary: Sanctuary is a three-year digital ministry initiative designed to create a self-sustaining, community-driven ecosystem that bridges physical gatherings and digital affinity groups for progressive faith communities across BC. The program centers around an online hub that facilitates ongoing engagement, hosts collaborative programming with ministries throughout the province, and provides crucial connection opportunities for marginalized individuals in rural communities who lack local support networks.

Target Candidate: Student or Recent Graduate with United/Anglican Church experience.

The Mission: To provide scaling support that transitions the Sanctuary project from a contractor-led initiative to a self-sufficient, community-sustained ecosystem over a three-year period. The Community Coordinator designs and implements bridge programs between physical gatherings and digital affinity groups, supported logistically by the Project Coordinator.

Billing: Services are billable at contractor’s hourly rate, up to a maximum budget of $950/mo. The Contractor determines the hours necessary to complete the deliverables. Invoices should itemize deliverables completed and hours worked.

Independent Contractor Relationship: This position is structured as an independent contractor engagement. As a contractor, you will operate independently, including setting your own schedule and determining your methods to achieve project deliverables. You are free to maintain other business relationships and take on other clients during the engagement.

Engagement Parameters

Work Location: Fully remote with optional in-person collaboration opportunities in Vancouver, BC.

Equipment: Contractor provides own computer, software, and internet connectivity.

Invoicing: Submit invoices for work completed based on project deliverables and time spent.

Reporting: Deliverables itemized on monthly invoices.

Travel: Annual Meeting attendance fully reimbursed per UCC travel policies (estimated 2-3 days, June 2026).

Support: Sanctuary leadership available for consultation, resources, and collaboration as needed.

 

Project Deliverables

1. Digital Community

● Discord Community:

○ Deliverable: Maintain active Discord community with minimum 10 meaningful interactions per week, ensuring timely response time to user posts, moderation, and welcoming of new members.

Success Metric: Community engagement levels (messages, new member retention, event participation)

Method: Contractor determines optimal timing and approach for community engagement

Program Development:

○Deliverable: Develop and execute one “high-impact, low-lift” programming initiative per quarter

○Success Metric: Program participation rates and ministry partner feedback

○Timeline: Contractor establishes program development and launch schedules

Ministry Partnership Development:

○Deliverable: Establish collaboration agreements with 3-5 BC ministries per quarter

○Success Metric: Number of active ministry partnerships utilizing Discord hub

○Approach: Contractor determines outreach strategy and partnership development methods

Partnerships might include:

○ Real-world conferences and gatherings.

○ Existing affinity groups within the provincial progressive sacred space.

○ Connecting marginalized individuals in rural communities with support networks and affinity groups they lack locally.

2. Program Expansion & Logistics

● Sanctuary D&D Program Growth

Deliverable: Expand Sanctuary D&D program to 3-5 Campus United branches across BC/Alberta

Success Metric: Number of active Campus United D&D sessions running monthly; participant retention rates

Approach: Contractor develops outreach strategy, partnership agreements, and coordination methods with Campus United branches

● Digital Programming Launch

Deliverable: Launch functional Twitch streaming program with regular content schedule

Success Metric: Streaming program operational by September 2026, minimum 4 hours of content per month; viewer engagement metrics

Approach: Contractor determines platform setup, content strategy, and collaboration methods for program development

3. Marketing and Communications

● Content Creation and Distribution

Deliverable: Publish monthly Sanctuary updates across PMR communication channels

Success Metric: Monthly blog posts published; content distributed to First Third Ministry and PMR newsletters; reach/engagement metrics

Timeline: Contractor establishes publication schedule and content development workflow

● Annual Meeting Representation

Deliverable: Successfully represent Sanctuary project at 2026 PMR UCC Annual Meeting (June)

Success Metric: Completed meeting attendance; promotional materials distributed; follow-up leads generated

Method: Contractor coordinates travel arrangements, prepares promotional materials, and executes networking strategy ‘

4. Sustainability & Hand-off

● Community Leadership Development

Deliverable: Identify and train 4-5 volunteer community members for future leadership roles that cover this position’s key responsibilities

Success Metric: Number of community members successfully transitioned to volunteer moderation/leadership responsibilities; platform activity levels maintained post-transition

Approach: Contractor designs leadership development process, mentorship program, and succession planning strategy
