Role: Sanctuary Project Coordinator 

Contract Terms: Budget up to $800/month | February–May 2026 (with option for a new engagement beginning June 2026)

What is Sanctuary: Sanctuary is a three-year digital ministry initiative designed to create a self-sustaining, community-driven ecosystem that bridges physical gatherings and digital affinity groups for progressive faith communities across BC. The program centers around an online hub that facilitates active ongoing engagement, hosts collaborative programming with ministries throughout the province, and provides crucial connection opportunities for marginalized individuals in rural communities who lack local support networks.

Target Candidate: Student or Recent Graduate with United/Anglican Church experience.

The Mission: To provide scaling support that transitions the Sanctuary project from a contractor-led initiative to a self-sufficient, community-sustained ecosystem over a three-year period. The Project Coordinator manages online communications and logistics for the Sanctuary project in coordination with the Community Coordinator.

Billing: Services are billable at contractor’s hourly rate, up to a maximum budget of $800/mo. The Contractor determines the hours necessary to complete the deliverables. Invoices should itemize deliverables completed and hours worked.

Independent Contractor Relationship: 

This position is structured as an independent contractor engagement. As a contractor, you will operate independently, including setting your own schedule and determining your methods to achieve project deliverables. You are free to maintain other business relationships and take on other clients during the engagement. 

Engagement Parameters 

Work Location: Fully remote with optional in-person collaboration opportunities in Vancouver, BC. 

Equipment: Contractor provides own computer, software, and internet connectivity. 

Invoicing: Submit invoices for work completed based on project deliverables and time spent. 

Reporting: Deliverables itemized on monthly invoices. 

Travel: None. 

Support: Sanctuary leadership available for consultation, resources, and collaboration as needed. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

1. Community Coordination 

● Discord Community Coordination

Deliverable: Maintain active Discord community with consistent communication and support for members 

○ Success Metric: Minimum ten meaningful community interactions per week; community activity levels maintained 

Approach: Contractor determines optimal engagement schedule and moderation methods in coordination with Community Coordinator 

● Ministry Network Support 

Deliverable: Support 10+ BC ministries using Discord as central communications hub for events and affinity groups 

Success Metric: Number of ministries actively using Discord platform; successful event coordination facilitated; rural community connections established 

Method: Contractor develops and executes logistical support framework 

 

2. Program Expansion & Logistics 

● Provincial D&D Program Coordination

Deliverable: Execute logistics framework and scheduling oversight for expanding D&D program to university campuses across BC 

Success Metric: Number of university campuses with active D&D programs; successful scheduling coordination; program retention rates 

Approach: Contractor develops scheduling systems, coordination protocols, and expansion timeline 

● Leadership Training Session Execution

Deliverable: Successfully coordinate and execute logistics for 2 provincial training sessions for Sanctuary community leaders 

Success Metric: Both training sessions completed on schedule; participant attendance rates; positive feedback scores; effective logistics coordination 

Method: Contractor manages all logistics, travel coordination, and communications for training events 

 

3. Marketing and Communications 

● Digital Programming Promotion 

Deliverable: Develop and execute comprehensive promotion strategy for Sanctuary digital initiatives 

Success Metric: Regular submissions to PMR newsletters; promotional content distributed to partner churches; measurable engagement increases on Discord 

Approach: Contractor establishes promotion schedule, content creation workflow, and distribution network management 

 

4. Sustainability & Hand-off

● Community Leadership Development

Deliverable: Identify and train 4-5 volunteer community members for future leadership roles that cover this position’s key responsibilities 

Success Metric: Number of community members successfully transitioned to moderation/leadership responsibilities; platform activity levels maintained post-transition 

Approach: Contractor collaborates on leadership development using established frameworks
