Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response
The United Church of Canada has developed and circulated response to harassment, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, pastoral sexual misconduct, sexual assault and child abuse for the whole of the church. The policy is based on the beliefs:
- that human sexuality is a gift from God to be respected, valued and celebrated;
- that power and authority is vested in leadership (both lay and clergy) to be exercised with the highest ethical and moral standards
First released in 1993, the Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Handbook has been revised and updated over the years. The most up to date handbook can be found on The United Church of Canada Handbooks and Guides page. For more information contact the Office of Vocation Minister: Brenda Fawkes
