Jeff Chu at General Meeting 2022

Jeff Chu 朱天慧 is a writer, reporter, editor, preacher, teacher and Ordinand in the Reformed Church in America, not to mention a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and former farm hand at PTS’s Farminary.  Chu is the co-curator and co-host (with Sarah Bessey) of “Evolving Faith” and author of “Does Jesus Really Love Me? A Gay Christian’s Pilgrimage in Search of God in America.” Chu recently completed “Wholehearted Faith,” a book that was underway by his dear friend Rachel Held Evans at the time of her tragic death in 2019.

Jeff sends out a free newsletter,  Notes of a Make-Believe Farmer. In his words, “This is where I am supposed to tell you all about the benefits of reading my words. I like to tell stories—for many years, I did it as a full-time reporter, writer, and editor at Time and Fast Company, and you’ll still occasionally find my words in Travel+Leisure—and I like to grow things. I call my newsletter ‘Notes of a Make-Believe Farmer. because 1) I don’t really know that much about farming; and 2) working on the land is something that helped me come to a fuller belief in beauty, redemption, and God.” Jeff’s newsletter is free, and you can also find his posts here.

Jeff Chu was key note presenter at Chinook Winds Regional Council General Meeting 2021. You can see a recording of his time with our sibling-region on the Chinook Winds Regional Council YouTube Channel; Jeff begins speaking at 1:30.

This year, Jeff comes to us in the Pacific Mountain Region in-person with an enthusiasm for a faith with longer tables, more connection with the land, decolonizing systems and difficult conversations.  We are excited to see what Jeff has to teach us as we gather in June, in Prince George.
