Pacific Mountain Regional Council is seeking an individual to fill the role of Reception and Admin Support on a permanent full-time basis, 35 hours per week.

Pacific Mountain Region, as part of The United Church of Canada, is called to serve God’s mission in Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit, for a world of justice, peace, reconciliation and the integrity of creation. The work of the Region focuses upon support for the church’s ministry personnel and other leaders and for its 170 congregations. The current Mission Statement of Pacific Mountain Region is:

The Regional Council is a decision-making body responsible to serve and support Communities of Faith within its bounds and provide necessary oversight. Pacific Mountain and Chinook Winds Regional Councils share some staff that serve both Regional Councils. This position only serves the Pacific Mountain Regional Council.

The Pacific Mountain Regional Council Reception and Admin Support position is responsible for:

  1. an effective, informative and welcoming communications hub for internal & external communications;
  2. greet and welcome people to the office (on behalf of both Pacific Mountain Regional Council and the Church);
  3. will provide administrative support for program staff and additional support for general business, special projects, mailings and admin overflow from other departments;
  4. provide a well-cared for office environment ensuring office equipment is well-functioning;
  5. provide support for the Region’s communications as assigned

They report to the Executive Minister, Pacific Mountain and Chinook Winds Regional Council. Day to day supervision will be done by the Regional Office Manager. The main areas of focus for this position are:

  • To be Communications Hub
  • To provide Administrative Support
  • To maintain Office Care

This position works from the Pacific Mountain Region office in Burnaby, BC under normal working conditions.  While some flexibility is possible, working hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Occasional attendance at evening and weekend meetings, with due notice, will be required. Most years overnight attendance at our four-day General Meeting is required. A three-night staff retreat annually is also required

Qualifications

  • Be familiar with the ethos, structure, and practices of The United Church of Canada;
  • Relate in a friendly, open manner with others;

  • The ability to prioritize and plan work;
  • Have the ability to individually and cooperatively problem-solve;
  • Be familiar with the Internet including Facebook, web sites, e-mail, the process of uploading, downloading and transferring files;
  • Be competent in the use of software programs used by Region, with specific, strong skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), and web browsers together with the ability and willingness to upgrade computer skills as needed;
  • Have or be willing to learn desktop publishing skills and MailChimp;
  • Knowledge in graphic design and web content is an asset

Compensation

Salary will be based on skills and experience, within the category 2 position with a salary range of $38,888.98 – $51,851.55. Pension and group benefit plans coverage and annual vacation round out this compensation package.
