SUMMARY:Deconstructing Bad Theology
DESCRIPTION:An Affirming Connections Offering with Jaye Brix\nDeconstructing Bad Theology\nTuesdays: March 31\, April 7 & 14\, 2026\nOnline via Zoom\nBad theology hurts. \nIt hurts the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community\, it hurts our communities of faith\, and it hurts folks who feel held down under the thumb of harmful language\, tradition\, and belief. \nJoin us for this three-week series inviting us all into a process of deconstructing the theologies that restrict us as we seek to expand our affirming ministry and as we live out faithful discipleship that celebrates diversity as sacred. We will learn together with Jaye Brix (they/she)\, an ex-pastor who uses their experience\, education and creativity to help folks on their liberation journey\, leaving behind church that hurts. \nExploring short-format teachings and longer-form documentary videos from Jaye Brix as tools to cracking open oppressive interpretation of scripture and religious culture. Exploring the roots of Queer Theology as a liberation theology for all\, not just the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. Jaye will join us for one of our sessions for conversation\, and sharing insights of their work as it evolves \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Radical Hope: A Clergy Retreat
DESCRIPTION:A LeaderSHIFT Offering with With Rev. Therese DesCamps and Robyn Froese\nRadical Hope: A Clergy Retreat\nMonday April 20 – Thursday April 23\, 2026\nIn-Person at Naramata Centre\n\n\n\n\nRetreat Overview\n\nBeginning 3pm\, Monday\, April 20\nClosing with lunch at 12pm\, Thursday\, April 23\nPrivate accommodation\, all meals and snacks provided\nAfternoon optional experiences included\, such as Healing Touch\, Cranial-Sacral Therapy\, Yoga\, Forest Bathing/Wild Church\, and Spiritual Direction\n\nRegistration Information\n\n$775 per person (private accommodation)\nRegistration: https://app.amilia.com/store/en/chinook-pacific-uccan/shop/programs/98110?subCategoryIds=6316175\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThough the fig tree does not blossom and no fruit is on the vines;\nthough the produce of the olive fails and the fields yield no food… yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the God of my salvation. (Habakkuk 3:17-18) \nThe prophet Habakkuk lived in a time of great turmoil and injustice. His short three-chapter book condemns both the corruption of his own people and the brutality of their enemies. Yet at the end of the book\, as Habakkuk faces into famine and destruction\, he sings of joy. \nWhat enables this kind of hope? Is this a delusion\, a spiritual bypass\, a vindictive taunt of Israel’s enemies? Or is Habakkuk actually filled with a radical hope that is not dependent on good outcomes? And if this is radical hope\, how do we get some of that? \nOur time together at Naramata will explore how we face into the storm of the world we live in; how we are connected (and why this is wonderful and awful at the same time); our work of giving attention; how we allow prayer to heal and equip us; and the sacramental practice of letting go. \nYou can expect to leave this retreat feeling refreshed. Better yet\, you can expect to identify the practices that will work in your own life\, to settle more deeply into your own call to ministry\, to connect with others for mutual support\, and to rest in a radical revision of hope. \nFor more information and registration: Radical Hope Clergy Retreat — LeaderSHIFT UCCan

SUMMARY:Queer & Faithful Cinema: “Proper Pronouns”
DESCRIPTION:A Affirming Connections & Pacific Mountain Region Affirming Ministry Offering\nQueer & Faithful Cinema\nMonthly Online Screenings: Friday May 15\, June 26\, July 17\, August 7\nOnline via Zoom\nPIE to Pride season is full of ways to engage your community and dive into Queer Theology. Join us for four monthly film screenings\, each film featuring real life stories of people who have navigated queerness in the context of church\, community and family. A discussion will follow each film that will touch on elements of Queer Theology and Liberating Theology to support the expansion of our own experiences and to support the authentic exploration and articulation of our own faith. \n**Disclaimer** As documentaries\, these films may contain occasional language profanity \nRegister here:\nMay 15 Registration – “Proper Pronouns” follows four transgender ministers in North Carolina as they fight intolerance and discrimination in the Bible Belt and battle narrow-mindedness within the religious community\, fellow state natives\, and their families. \nJune 26 Registration – At General Council 42 the church voted to have a national project of story-sharing and dialogue with people affected by the Church’s 1988 decision. These stories would then help the church to discern if\, and how\, it might live into an apology to the church’s LGBTQ and Two-Spirit people. “The Iridesce Theatre Presentation” is a play in three acts. All the words of the script have emerged from the Iridesce Project\, and are the memories and words of Iridesce participants. \nJuly 17 Registration – “Wonderfully Made — LGBTQ+R(eligion)” is a combined fine art project and feature-length documentary that together strike at the root of anti-LGBTQ+ attitudes by exploring the challenges and aspirations of LGBTQ+ Catholics. The message\, however\, applies to any religious tradition that does not fully embrace our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters. \nAugust 7 Registration – “A Queer’s Guide to Spiritual Living” Blending zine-inspired animation\, spoken word\, and poetry with insightful interview footage\, this lo-fi documentary collage follows four queer people from different religious backgrounds as they explore the intersections of faith and queerness.
