As a church we have committed to implementing the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission – but how complete is your knowledge about the Indian Act itself? Since 1876 the Indian Act has dictated and constrained the lives of Indigenous Peoples. Deeper awareness of the legacy of the Indian Act will contribute to our collective capacity to pursue true reconciliation.
