Children’s Church Leader — Northwood United Church

Job Title:
Children’s Church Leader 

Main Purpose of the Job:
Prepare and lead children’s programs on Sunday morning. Includes setup and clean-up of classroom areas. 

Reports to:
This position is guided and supervised by the Children’s Ministry Team Lead 

Direct Reports: None 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan weekly Children’s Church lessons (from supplied curriculum) 
  • * Lesson time averages 45 min and will include opening and closing prayer, 1 or 2 short games/energy breaks, lesson and discussion, craft or other activity 
  • Set up/clean up classroom 
  • Set up/clean up colouring supplies on sanctuary tables 
  • Tidy up nursery after service 

Experience working with children required (roles such as Sunday school teacher, camp leader, youth program leader, child care worker, etc)
Ability to follow the curriculum, come up with creative activities and be able to execute the plan and help keep the kids on track
Have an accepting and affirming Christian background (United Church preferred), lots of patience and enjoy kids.
Have a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check or be able to successfully pass one. 

Working Conditions: 

Position is 4 hours per week, Sundays, 9:30am until 12:30pm plus 1 hour of mid-week planning. Starting salary is $18.00 per hour.
Potential for additional hours to lead youth group activities at a future time.
There are no benefits provided with this position. Vacation pay will be added to each pay at 4%.
